Hilary Bernstein is the Director of Education for the Anti-Defamation League in the Pacific NW, addressing prejudice and bigotry of all kinds. Hilary works closely with community leaders, legislators, law enforcement officers, educators, students, community members who all want to ensure the Pacific NW is “no place for hate.” Hilary originally trained as a classroom teacher and has worked with children of all ages. Prior to joining the ADL in 2005, Hilary served as founding director of Seattle’s Limmud NW Adult Jewish Learning Program, Coordinator for the Jewish Women’s Archive, and as President of Congregation Beth Shalom.
Nir Arad is a Senior Research Scientist working for NVIDIA Corporation, with expertise in the field of high speed computer networks. Nir was born and raised in Israel, lived in California, and currently resides in Snoqualmie, Washington. Nir is married to Yulia, and they have 4 children: Dan who lives in Israel and serves in the Israeli army, Tom, Dalia, and Keren.
Nir & Yulia attend Panim-Hadashot events regularly, and immensely enjoy the inclusive, relaxed and welcoming way of Panim-Hadashot to revive Shabbat hospitality spirit. They recently hosted a Havdallah gathering at their home.
Joel Konikow is a newly retired physician. He has been involved in Jewish studies for many years. He is an active member of Congregation Herzl Ner Tamid. Joel is a strong supporter of the Shabbat Hospitality mission of Panim Hadashot. Joel and his wife, Barbara, have hosted two Musical Havdallah Gatherings.
Sam is a twenty year Seattle resident with his wife, Sharon, and three children. Sam was the athletic director of the Seattle Academy, and the executive director of Camp Solomon Schechter for 10 years. He is passionate about youth education, Judaism, and the environment. Sam aspires to help people to grow and build community.
